| Job Summary |
Our Northern IL client, has a need for an exceptional Project Manager to lead project teams in the execution of contract work from pre-contract sales support through customer acceptance of deliverables to achieve quality, schedule, and cost commitments. This position requires a results-driven individual with well developed technical and social skills to lead project teams in the successful implementation of pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical materials handling projects. Typical projects include the design, procurement, manufacture, commissioning, and closure of materials handling systems for thermal power generation stations in both domestic and foreign markets. This position reports to the Director of Project Management & Contract Engineering.
Review project proposals and contract requirements to insure that the proposed execution schedule and labor / material costs are accurately estimated to secure the customer’s business while meeting profit target.
Coordinate and monitor the performance and activities of the Mechanical, Structural, Systems, Electrical and Field Service Engineering, Procurement and Construction Groups to insure that they are meeting their benchmarks and timeline during the various phases of the project’s master schedule.
As the primary contact for the Project(s), will work directly with the customer’s Project Manager, General Contractor or A&E to resolve questions regarding any changes from the original contract specifications to insure that the systems performance is not compromised and to recover or avoid any additional cost that might be incurred.
Provide accurate and concise written and verbal communications in a timely manner on the status of the Project or any proposed changes in the contract with the customer and our internal departments.
Manage the Projects financial planning and accounting functions to insure that the customer’s payments for the Project are received according to the terms of the contract and that the revenue stream is uninterrupted to meet operating expenses and profit goals.
Establish the timeliness to release work orders and payment schedules for the Project’s subcontracted services based on contract commitments and the vendor’s performance in meeting their contractual obligations.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required. Master’s degree in Engineering or MBA preferred.
Project Management Institute certification and/or
Professional Engineer (PE) certification is preferred.
5-7 years experience in project management., with leadership attributes.
Experienced in management of scope, cost, schedule, resources, and critical path analysis.
Excellent written and verbal communications and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively to all audiences and shift communication style to suite the targeted audience, both internally and externally.
Expert knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Primavera
Ability to handle multiple, concurrent assignments and shift resources as required, along with excellent time-management, organizational, and follow up skills.
Ability to direct and manage conflict resolution, experienced getting results through others, multi-tasking, and taking ownership of Projects. Must be flexible, creative, hands-on and pragmatic
