Title Project Manager, Strategic IT Planning
 
Location Riverwoods, IL
 
Job Summary In support of this initiative known as Multi-Generational Technology Planning, the candidate will leverage competencies and experience that demonstrate a specialized focus on service delivery and partnership that will enable the successful execution of numerous projects focused on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and Application Portfolio Optimization (APO). Concurrently, this resource will assist and manage portions of the strategic planning and governance framework related to the oversight of technology spend across all Wolters Kluwer businesses.

 
Responsibilities
• Manages the ongoing relationships between for various MGTP programs and MGTP-related strategic planning within the Company's business units and customer units.

• Partners with business/customer unit internal customers to drive adoption of current MGTP related initiatives and identification of future opportunities that will optimize the successful execution of MGTP program(s) and achievement of associated financial targets.

• Oversees the creation and execution of TCO and APO Multi-Generational Technology Plans.

• Oversees the execution of the governance model related to technology spend and the tracking of MGTP initiatives.

• Participates in the development of multi generational technology roadmaps and plans for multiple groups of applications.

• Responsible for supporting the creation of business cases related to application portfolio optimization initiatives.

• Drives collaboration and accountability with business units in developing and implementing MGTP projects.

• Tracks and reports on budgets, timelines and resource allocations for all approved MGTP projects.

• Creates and delivers Executive level presentations representing both the progress of MGTP (as a whole) as well as at an individual project level.

• Creates and manages project plans that drive the successful achievement of MGTP- related initiatives.

 

 


 
Qualifications • Education: 4 year degree or equivalent work experience preferred. Preference given to candidates with Masters degrees in Business Administration, Technology or related field.

• Ten to fifteen years experience in the technology industry.

• Deep understanding of one or more software engineering methodologies and back office systems ( i.e. SFA,AR/AP,GL,CRM and ERP).

• Experience having worked in a business unit/customer unit role is preferred.

• Experience having been responsible for the development, oversight and management of back office systems is highly desired.

• Experience having worked cross functionally /cross business unit in a matrixed environment is required.

• Management of large enterprise projects preferably in both custom application development and COTS packaged applications.

• Significant Experience in service delivery roles including driving collaboration, consensus and cooperation among disparate parties.

• Experience building business cases for strategic change in technology, including the articulation of financial and operational benefits, construction of cost savings and cost avoidance models, and required investments.

• Expertise in project management disciplines, methodologies and best practices.

• Experience managing mixed teams, internal company and consultant resources (including offshore).

• Very experienced with in the creation and management of project plans, scope and budget.

• Self starter with a very results oriented, proactive management approach that focuses on getting the job done.

• Strong leader, with superior problem solving skills and analytical thought processes.

• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written skills. Ability to work at all levels of an organization.

• High customer service orientation-Adept at anticipating and meeting the expectations associated with managing multiple priorities, expectations, programs ,relationships.

• Effectively manages and reconciles conflicting demands effectively.
