Abstract:
This presentation shows that smart and successful people are not immune to dumb mistakes when it comes to emotional intelligence. Without emotional intelligence, project managers are at risk of making dumb mistakes which can set back or derail their careers. Project managers may also fail in more subtle ways if they lack interpersonal skills and charisma. Otherwise great project managers may find their careers stalled based on their ability to relate to, influence, or collaborate with others.

Research shows that emotional intelligence (EQ) is just as important to project managers as IQ or PMBOK® knowledge. In fact, recent PMI-sponsored research has shown that successful project managers need different EQ competencies to manage different types of projects. Fortunately, these EQ competencies can be learned.

Learn which EQ competencies are most important to the success of your projects, the typical EQ profile for project managers, and how to boost your own EQ to succeed on your projects.
