Abstract:
Many Project Managers occupy a typical position within their company: they have become content experts in an area that their company specializes in as well as having gained the skills necessary to successfully complete projects. However coming from a technical or content area background, they often do not have a great deal of training in basic business skills. Tonight’s presenter is one of those who had become the tops at his profession as a Project Manager, but did not have any training, formal or informal in the ways of Corporate Strategy and Finance. The lack of business knowledge was a distinct disadvantage in making greater contributions to the company.
The presentation will introduce the audience to the fundamentals of Strategic Financial Analysis. During the presentation, you will learn how a company’s financial results can be studied in order to understand what is the company’s intended strategy and how well the company is performing that strategy. Knowledge of strategy and financial performance can then become the crucial underpinning of project choice, portfolio management and company success. Don’t worry - you will not need a calculator to follow this presentation!
