This year the PM Leadership event is focused on organizational project management maturity. That is the organization’s competency and internal expertise in performing successful projects.
An organization that is mature in its project management capabilities will have documented its project process and effectively implemented a high level of project management best practices. Ultimately, it will have implemented a continuous improvement process for project management. It will also have an established career path for it’s project managers and provide training and individual professional development guidance.
The 2008 PM Leadership event will be held on the morning of March 18th. It will feature the global product manager for OPM3, Larry Bull. OPM3 is PMI’s standard for evaluating and improving organizational project management maturity. OPM3 is slated this year for an update release. Larry has been traveling the world to inform executives how they can use OPM3 to give them a strategic advantage by improving their organization’s ability to perform projects.
The event will also feature John Roecker, the global product manage for the Career Framework. This is the new online tool available for individuals or organizations to evaluate and improve the competencies of individual Project Managers. It also helps organizations develop a Project Management career path.
In addition to these specific tool presentations, there will be local PMO leaders who have been successful in improving the project management capabilities of their organizations. They will share what has worked for them in their organizations. They will cover topics such as implementing MS Project Server and Selling the value of project management and the PMO up to the executive level.
The event will end up with a panel discussion and a chance to ask the experts about their knowledge and experience in leading organizations to better project management capability. After the event, there will be a luncheon with the opportunity to network with your pears and share knowledge and best practices.
