One of the ways in which the Chicagoland Chapter of
PMI is achieving its mission of promoting project management
knowledge, standards and ethical practice for members,
the profession and the community is by identifying materials
on project management topics that are available through
libraries in the Chicago region. By identifying these
materials we can, in effect, create a virtual library
that members can use to locate material appropriate
to their needs.
The libraries in the Chicago region contain a wealth
of materials that professional project managers and
other interested parties will find invaluable in expanding
their knowledge of project management. In addition to
the already available materials the Chicagoland Chapter
has funded the purchase of some of the most recently
published books on the cutting edge of project management
topics. During fiscal year 2001 and 2002 we have procured
thirty-nine books to supplement those already available
in the libraries throughout the Chicagoland area. These
materials are being donated to the Batavia Public Library.
Because of the extensive inter-library loan system in
the Chicago region PMI members as well as the general
public can checkout books regardless of where they are
physically housed. Each library, and the local networks
in which they belong, have varying procedures on how
to use the inter-library loan system. However, what
they all have in common is the ability to share books
among each other. Please see the librarian at your local
library to learn how to checkout materials from throughout
the library system.
